Prayer Before the Icon of Christ
We reverence thy spotless Icon, O gracious Lord, and ask forgiveness of our transgressions, O Christ our God: for of thine own good will thou wast pleased to ascend the Cross in the flesh, that thou mightest deliver from bondage to the enemy those whom thou hadst fashioned. Wherefore, we cry aloud unto thee: thou hast filled all things with joy, O our Saviour, for thou didst come to save the world.

In this icon of Christ Enthroned, He is vested in liturgical vestments and Bishop's crown. He is shown to be our "great High Priest". The Gospel Book is open to "I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." This icon is located on the East wall directly behind the Holy Table. He is the priest who offers up the sacrifice and He is the sacrifice.

This icon is by the hand of Constantine Youssis and is from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Inscription is in Greek.
