Since thou art a well-spring of tenderness, O Theotokos, make us worthy of compassion; Look upon a sinful people; Manifest thy power as ever, for hoping on thee we cry aloud unto thee: Hail! as once did Gabriel, chief Captain of the Bodiless Powers

This form of icon of the Theotokos was first used in the iconostas of Vyshgorod Monastery in 1654. It is called the "Brotherhood" or "Bratsk" icon. In 1662, the Crimean Tatars sacked this monastery. The icon was taken as loot, but was then dropped in the Dnieper River. It floated to a point in the middle of the river just opposite the monastery, and stopped. The monks retrieved it and placed it in their monastery again.

This Icon is by the hand of an iconographer who wishes to be anonymous*. It is one of a coordinated set with the Jesus Christ the All Merciful Lord icon
