Troparion
Since thou art a well-spring of tenderness,
O Theotokos, make us worthy of compassion; Look upon a sinful
people; Manifest thy power as ever, for hoping on thee we cry
aloud unto thee: Hail! as once did Gabriel, chief Captain of the
Bodiless Powers
This icon dates back to the 4th century during the time of St. Nina's evangelization of the Republic of Georgia. It takes its name from the Tsiklan Cathedral in Kartalin. Some have claimed that this icon was written by St. Luke himself, but this comes more out of popular piety than any historical tradition.
