Troparion
(Tone 4)

In beautiful garments woven from thy blood thou dost stand before the King of Heaven. For thou dost chant the Thrice-holy hymn With Angels and Martyrs. By thy supplications save thy servants.

Christopher was one of the officers who witnessed the martyrdom of St. George under Emperor Diocletian. Christopher, Theonas & Antonius went to the Emperor, threw down their swords and boldly confessed Christ. They were severely tortured and, finally, burned to death for their faith. They entered into eternal joy in the Lord in 303. They suffered in Nicomedia. St. Christopher is thus depicted in his Baptismal robe and holding a Cross to signify that he was baptized in his own blood. This idea is reflected in his troparion above, as well.
