Budded Crosses with 3-Bar Cross EngravedOur Crosses are made in Souderton, Pennsylvania, of beautiful hardwoods. At this time, we have them in your choice of Cherry, Phillippine Mahogany and Black Walnut. Each Cross is unique. There are natural variations of color and grain, as well as occasional natural 'defects' in the wood. They will age naturally. The cherry and mahogany will darken and the black walnut will fade in sunlight. We finish each cross with mineral oil and recommend that you renew this finish two or three times a year by rubbing it with mineral oil (unscented baby oil) or olive oil.

Budded Cross with Three Bar Cross Engraved: This Cross is rich in meaning. The first thing to notice is the overall shape. It is budded at each end of the cross. This symbolizes both life and the Trinity. Inside that shape is the three bar cross. In addition to the main bar that bore the body of Christ, there is a short, horizontal top bar and a short, diagonal bottom bar. The top bar is similar to the plaque that Pontius Pilate had placed on the Cross, except we read it as "King of Glory!" The bottom bar is like the footrest, except it is angled to remind us of the fate of the two thieves. It points down on the right as we are looking at it, but that would be Jesus’ left hand, where the thief who mocked hung and perished. The thief on Jesus’ right, whom we know as St. Dysmas, confessed Christ and entered into Paradise with Him. (Luke 23:39-43) Whenever an Orthodox Christian sees this Cross, he or she is reminded to choose life!
