St. Olga - July 11th Troparion  (Tone 1)
Thou didst give wings to thy mind with the knowledge of God, and soar beyond creatures to God the Creator of all. And when thou hadst found Him thou wast baptized and re-born. Thou dost enjoy the Tree of Life, remaining eternally incorrupt, O ever glorious Olga.

St. Helena - May 21st Kontakion (Tone 3)
Today Constantine and Helena his mother expose to our veneration the Cross, the awesome Cross of Christ, a sign of salvation to the Jews and a standard of victory: a great symbol of conquest and triumph.

Princess Olga is also known as Saint Helena. Olga was her name given at birth and she was given the Christian name Helena (Helen) when she was baptised by Patriarch Polyeuctus in Constantinople. She was the wife of Prince Igor of Kievan Rus. She did much to evangelize Russia. Saint Princess Olga reposed in the Lord in 969. So this icon is of St. Olga and her patron St. Helena: two Empresses who did much to advance the Gospel of Christ.

This icon is by the hand of Philip Zimmerman of New Florence, Pennsylvania. It is from Christ Our Saviour Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Seminary in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
