St.
Lawrence of the Kiev Caves
January 29th
Troparion (Tone 1)
Thou didst appear making the wilderness thy home, an angel in the
flesh, a doer of wonders; and by fasts, vigils and prayers, thou
didst receive heavenly gifts. Therefore, thou dost heal the sick
and the souls of those who hasten to thee, O God-mantled Father
Lawrence. Glory to him who hath given thee power; glory to him
who hath crowned thee; glory to him who through thee accomplished
healing for all.
St. Lawrence was a monk in the Monastery of the Caves outside of Kiev. He attained a high level of perfection and was known for his great wisdom and power over the demons.
