Saint Rose of Sardinia
Troparion (Tone 8)
Through thee the divine likeness was securely preserved,
O Mother Rose; for thou didst carry the cross and followed Christ.
By example and precept thou didst teach us to ignore the body
because it is perishable, and to attend to the concerns of the undying
soul. Therefore, doth thy soul rejoice with the angels.
St. Rose lived during the third century on the island of Sardinia. She was a Roman and the mother of St. Antiochus the martyr. She reposed in the late third century. Her name is mentioned in one of the earliest list of saints.
