O victorious
Artemius, thou wast a noble athlete.
Now like a shining lamp thy miracles enlighten the world for the
salvation of our souls.
Artemius was born in Verkol, Russia to Cosmas & Apollinaria, a peasant couple. As early as age five his piety and humility distinguished him from the other children. When he was thirteen, he was travelling with his father through a forest and died of exposure. The ground was frozen and his grieving father could not dig a grave. He covered his son's body with branches and continued on his way. Twenty-eight years later, a man saw an unearthly light in the forest. He went to it and found Artemius' body, whole and uncorrupt. It gave healing to many of the sick who touched it. His relics are preserved in a monastery near Pinega, which is near Archangel. He has been shown to be a powerful intercessor for teens and children.
