Troparion
Since thou art a well-spring of tenderness,
O Theotokos, make us worthy of compassion; Look upon a sinful
people; Manifest thy power as ever, for hoping on thee we cry
aloud unto thee: Hail! as once did Gabriel, chief Captain of the
Bodiless Powers
The prototype for this icon, celebrated on June 8th, was brought to Yaroslavl', a city 160 miles northeast of Moscow, in the thirteenth century by princes Basil and Constantine. The three golden stars which adorn her mantle, one above the forehead and one on each shoulder, signify her virginity before, during, and after giving birth.
This Icon is by the hand of Matthew Garrett.
