Troparion
Since thou art a well-spring of tenderness,
O Theotokos, make us worthy of compassion; Look upon a sinful
people; Manifest thy power as ever, for hoping on thee we cry
aloud unto thee: Hail! as once did Gabriel, chief Captain of the
Bodiless Powers
The Theotokos & Ever-Virgin Mary here appears as the Queen of Heaven She is enthroned who once enthroned Christ God in her womb, and on her lap as a small child. It is known as "Cyprus", "Cypriot" or ""Kiprskaia", because it was on Cyprus that this pattern was first established. In its full form they are flanked by an angel on either side in a posture of service.
