Troparion
(Tone 4)
The barren wilderness thou didst make fertile with the streams of thy tears; and by the deep sighing thou hast given fruit through thy struggles a hundredfold.  Accordingly, thou hast become a star for the universe, sparkling with miracles. Therefore, O righteous Father Daniel, intercede with Christ God to save our souls.

St. Daniel was born in 1460.  He had a great love for asceticism and so became a monk at a monastery at Borovsk.  He cared very much for the dead.  Whenever he heard of a deceased person being neglected or too poor for a burial, he would hasten to give them a decent burial and offer prayers in their behalf.  He built a church next to his cemetery.  He reposed peacefully in 1540 and his relics remain intact.
