About Paul Drozdowski,
Iconographer
For
nearly 15 years, Paul Drozdowski has been painting icons. He started
out
self taught;
however, he was fortunate enough to spend a year and a half in
Holy Trinity
Monastery (Jordanville, NY), continuing his education with
Hieromonk Andrew
Erastov. He maintains a small icon studio, producing icons
on panels for
individuals as well as parishes. He is also able to do murals
on a small scale
as well, painting them on sheets of canvas, which are then
attached to the
wall of the church.
He uses all
archival materials, including high quality, half inch thick wood
panels,
constructed by a unique laminate process which renders them
practically
indestructible. (Icons with a recessed center are unfortunately
not yet
available.) Each commission is custom painted (no subjects
stockpiled),
which means although of course the work is time consuming, it
allows patrons
to select certain details according to their needs & tastes.
Inscriptions can
be written in any liturgical language, and background and
border colors
can vary.
Paul has been
fascinated with icons for literally his whole life. He
graduated from
Tyler School of Art (Temple Un.) in Elkins Park with a BFA
before
continuing onto Jordanville. He is currently also a freelance graphic
designer &
illustrator. He is, as well, a tonsured reader in the Russian
Orthodox Church
Abroad, and assists at St. Vladimir's Memorial Church in
Jackson, NJ. He
resides in Mt. Laurel, NJ. You can contact Paul at:
