Saint
Joshua Son of Nun
September 1st
Joshua was one of the twelve spies who went into the Promised Land. Only he and Caleb came back encouraging the people to have faith in God and take the land. Israel believed the faithless spies and were cursed to wander for 38 more years for a total of 40 years in the wilderness, one year for each day the spies were in the land. All of the other adults who had escaped from Egypt through the Red Sea perished in the wilderness. Only Joshua and Caleb survived to lead the people in. Joshua was the successor to Moses and led the people in conquest. His story is told in the book of Joshua. He lived about 110 years and reposed around 1440 B.C.
