The Virgin today gives birth to the Transcendent One, and the earth offers a cave to the Unapproachable One, Angels and shepherds glorify Him, and wise men journey with a star. For a young Child is born for us, Who is from eternity God.

October 13th Troparion of the Mother of God of the Portal (Tone 1)
We honour thy icon, O Mother of God of the Portal, for it has come miraculously by sea to thy flock and is a source of holiness and a dwelling-place of thy glory. From it gifts pour to those who lovingly cry to thee: Glory to thy wonders, O pure Maiden; glory to thy providence; glory to thy goodness towards us.

This pen & ink and gold leaf sketch in iconographic style was done by Kristen Chocheli of Perkasie, Pennsylvania, while her husband, Niko, was in a plane over the Atlantic Ocean to visit his homeland, the Republic of Georgia. It is based on the icon of Mary known as the "Portal" from a reference to the Theotokos' intercessions in the Paraclesis Service, during which this icon is placed in the middle of the church. But it was at Christmas that her womb became the portal through which God entered the world as a Man.

The note cards are 5-1/8" x 7-1/4" and come with corresponding envelopes. They are blank inside and have the text above on the back. Single cards, mix & match, are $1 each. $9 in packs of 10.
