Troparion
(Tone 4)
Leaders of the Apostles and teachers of the world, pray to the Master of all to grant peace to the world and great mercy to our souls.

This Icon of the Apostle Paul is from Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Windber, Pennsylvania. It is one of a set of three that are on the outside of the church. Iconographer Nicholas Papas created this icon from the story in the Book of Acts. There is no ancient prototype for this icon, but it is an event that happened as part of our spiritual heritage, so we can depict it. In the upper left, we see the hand of Jesus Christ striking Saul blind. The ray represents the voice of God, which said: "Saul, Saul, Why do you persecute Me?"
